Jacqueline Gilleland

English & History

I am thrilled to be working with students in new and creative ways so we can all fall in love with learning again. I’m energetic and passionate about teaching not what to think or believe but how to logically come to conclusions for yourself and I strive to center the curriculum around the students’ unique interests and needs. Jason Abney

Morgan Hutchinson

English & Credit Recovery Lab

We must never forget the incredible responsibility that we are given as teachers. It is our job to educate, guide, and nurture each student. It is critical that we provide a positive, safe environment and present it in an atmosphere that is fun and welcoming. We help lay a foundation that will help them navigate through the rest of their lives. When the sun rises, it’s going to be a good day and anything is possible … and that’s why I love teaching.

Mark Arendse

Music

I never chose education, rather it was the other way around and education and being an educator chose me. This became evident when in my teens, I realized that I had a propensity and ability to teach.

Kim Waskiewicz

Art

Even though I had been filling sketch books since I could hold a crayon, it was when I took my first official art class in the 7th grade with Mrs. Watson that I knew I wanted to be an art teacher.

Collin Devaney

Administration

John Baker

Principal

I was born and raised in San Jose, California, but I have spent the past 26 years in the Chandler/Gilbert area. I have been married for almost 31 years and have 6 children. I proudly served this country as a United States Marine, and then served my community as a Phoenix Police Officer. I just felt there was more I could do by impacting youth at an earlier age.

Linda Okonowski

Special Education Director

It wasn't until I was in college, working on my Biology degree, that I had an interest in teaching. Science is one of those subjects that can be very boring or very fun and interesting when being taught. I wanted to make sure my love of science came across to others as a fun and interesting topic, and what better way than to teach.

Paige Courts

Data & Testing Coordinator

I had a passion for teaching from a very early age and knew that I wanted to pursue a career in education. I graduated from Northern Arizona University, in December of 2017, with degrees in elementary and special education.

Tiffany Nielsen

Administrative Assistant

I have always enjoyed school and had more awesome teachers than not. Growing up I consistently wanted to be one of three things: flight attendant, teacher, and secretary. I have now lived out two of the three. I am excited to be here at EVHS and look forward to a fantastic year!

Jill Allen

Leadership & Academic Advisor

This is my 4th year at East Valley High School. As a leadership instructor I love helping students see their potential and and rise above their fears of public speaking. I look forward to helping my students plan school events and activities for this upcoming school year.
